NOT appoint a Joint Venture Partner or to undertake any actions towards developing at Baths Island, Alexandra Gardens Coach Park and Alexandra Gardens Car Park until after it has undertaken a full consultation with Residents of Windsor (cont)
At the Maidenhead Town Forum in March, the council made a
‘hot off the press’ announcement about redevelopment of
the land surrounding Alexandra Gardens, including the coach and
carpark and Baths Island. This was described as ‘mixed
development’ and would involve relocating or replacing the
coach park and car parking, though it was not made clear where to.
Neither was it made clear what would happen at Baths Island but the
Property Company MD said that there would be a vision for Windsor
similar to Maidenhead. The council’s stated next step is to
appoint a Joint Venture (JV) partner, who would produce plans for
the area, before consulting with residents in 2022. However, once a
JV partner is in place it is likely that by this point it would be
difficult for the council to pull out and leave the area untouched
if that is what residents want.
We believe that the process should be halted until residents have
been consulted and that ‘NOT’ developing Baths Island
should be an option.
