Decision Maker: Assistant Director of Revenues, Benefits, Library & Resident Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
Cancel the legacy contract with EE for Mobile
Data and enter into a new agreement to save £471 per month.
Move off a legacy mobile contract with EE onto a new contract with
EE via the Crown Commercial Framework RM6261. Mobile Voice and Data
Services: Suppliers on Lot 1: Mobile Voice and Data Services
Catalogue - CCS (crowncommercial.gov.uk)
Reasons for the decision:
1 The RBWM Mobile contract moved to O2 but
three library sites were not
included in the new contract as the new contract could not provide
the required
coverage. These sites are Ascot, the Container and Sunningdale
Pop-Up library.
2 The three sites are on a very old tariff which cannot be amended
as this is a
legacy contract
3 Due to the location of these sites, RBWM broadband is not
currently an option.
4 Connectivity is required for Spydus, Netloan and RBWM
wifi
Alternative options considered:
1 Use the Borough's O2 contract: this was
rejected as mobile data coverage was not
sufficient
2 Remain on the legacy contract: this was rejected as there are
higher costs with no
benefits
Details of any associated risks and mitigation:
1 There is a risk that the new contract will
not provide sufficient data however IT
has reviewed usage and as the new contract offers unlimited data
this risk is very
low.
2 There is a risk that network coverage will not be sufficient but
the proposal is to
remain with the same provider therefore this risk is very low as
coverage currently
meets the needs of the service.
