Community Transport Service - Contract Award 2024
Decision Maker: Assistant Director of Neighbourhood Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To award contract for continued provision of
community transport services in the borough – specifically,
ShopMobility and Dial A Ride services.
Reasons for the decision:
The contract will be for 2 years, with an
optional 1 year extension. A decision to direct award the contract
is the result of a market engagement exercise identifying only one
interested party in taking on the contract.
Alternative options considered:
Do nothing – the provision of
ShopMobility and Dial A Ride services in the borough would cease,
leaving many residents with reduced mobility or no access to public
transport without independent access to everyday shops and
services.
Details of any associated risks and mitigation:
The existing contract expires at the end of
March 2024. The award of this contract ensures the uninterrupted
and continued provision of community transport services, which are
relied upon by borough residents to meet their mobility
needs.
Details of any associated finance considerations:
The annual financial commitment will be funded
through existing revenue budget provision. The total value of the
contract is up to £365,930.

Details of any associated equality/ sustainability /data protection considerations:
Not applicable: this is a renewal of an
existing contractual arrangement.
Reason(s) for officer decision notice:
Any decision to seek proposals for, award, or
vary a contract, or to dispose of land or assets, with a value
(over the life of the contract) of £50,000 or more (N.B. up
to £500,000 as this would then require Cabinet
approval)
