Welcome & Introductions

Minutes:

The Chair welcomed those present to the meeting.

2.

Guest - Pauline Peters - Added Item

Minutes:

Pauline Peters from the NHS Frimley Health and Care ICS updated the meeting on the Childrens and Young People's Partnership progress in its first year.

 

A key achievement presented was the Water Safety campaign that was put on the agenda by the Youth Council. The meeting was told how there were no accidental drownings in the summer of 2023.

 

The Youth Council where also invited to share their experiences of the CYP.

3.

Minutes and Actions of Last Meeting

Minutes:

The minutes of the last meeting were approved.

 

All actions from the last meeting where related to the Political Education Day event and were completed by the 8th of March.

4.

Participation Expression of Interest Form

Minutes:

No new forms had been received.

 

Joanna Dixon from Healthwatch had agreed to attend the next Youth Council meeting.

5.

Correspondence

Minutes:

The Chair informed the meeting of the correspondence since the last meeting, most of which related to the Political Education Day Event.

 

The Youth Council had received an email from Sports Development regarding StreetTag. An online physical activity programme, how RBWM is rolling out in the Borough, and how the Youth Council can be involved.

 

Those present agreed this was an interesting project. Sports Development will be invited to a future meeting.

6.

Political Education Day Analysis

Minutes:

The Youth Council Political Education Day was held on the 8th of March with 74 young people attending.

 

Youth Councillors shared their experiences of the day and completed a What Went Well and Even Better If document covering the different aspects of the day to help with the planning of future events by the Youth Council.

 

Youth Councillors also reviewed the feedback form which was completed by attendees of the event and the results of the Round Table Discussions and how the Youth Council can use the data in the future.

7.

RBWM Together Website Project

Minutes:

The Youth Council were updated on the new “Hub” for youth engagement on the RBWM Together Website for the Youth Council and Girls Forum. The draft of the webpages were shown and approved by those present. The final steps for publishing the new pages will be completed.

8.

RBWM Council Plan 2024 to 2028 - Added Item

Minutes:

Youth Councillors were informed about the Draft RBWM Council Plan for 2024 to 2028 going to Corporate O&S on the 25th of March and Cabinet on the 27th of March.

 

The Youth Council had previously been consulted on the plan in October 2023.

Girls Forum Period Poverty Initiate

 

Youth Councillors were informed of the Girls Forum initiative to tackle period poverty by collecting donated sanitary products between the 8th and 12th of April.
