This petition is to ask RBWM to review and revise the planning of this industrial estate. To either:
- Direct the lorries to enter through Alma road which is much wider
- Create a new entrance off Arthur Road by Laitwaites
- Create a new exit under the arches and out by Alexandra couch park
Currently these large vehicles are directed from Arthur Road, down Vansittart Road (towards the river) and then right down Duke Street. Often the sign directing them down Duke Street is missed which results in these large vehicles attempting a turn in Barry Avenue to make their way back to Duke Street.
Once the vehicle is at the Duke Street turning it needs to drive down a road which (between the parking bays and not allowing for the wing) is only 10ft wide (the smallest width a road can be!). FYI HGV’s can be 8.53ft wide!
These roads were not built for large vehicles; not only are they not wide enough (and subsequently our vehicles are often damaged), but our homes are suffering from the noise and vibrations.
