Petition update 2 from the council, 14 May 2013
At the special Council meeting held on Thursday 9 May 2013 at
7.30pm in the Pavilion, Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot, the
Members of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead UNANIMOUSLY
agreed the following:-
- the Council will do everything in its power to fight the NHS
plans to cut services at Heatherwood Hospital and fight for local
health facilities to be maintained and enhanced across the
Borough.
- the Council reinforces its commitment to “Fight for local
health facilities to be maintained and enhanced across the borough,
not cut, removed or centralised to other places.”
- the Council will arrange to meet with the Secretary of State for
Health, the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, alongside the MP for Windsor,
Adam Afriyie.
- the Council will arrange to meet with the Frimley Park Foundation
Trust to discuss the future options for Heatherwood.
- the Council works with other stakeholders to consider the
viability of a social enterprise providing intermediate or other
care facilities at Heatherwood
Petition update 1 from the council, 12 April 2013, while
petition was still open Following the decision taken by
NHS Berkshire to transfer services away from Heatherwood Hospital,
the Royal Borough will be holding a special Council meeting on
Thursday 9 May 2013 at 7.30pm in the Pavilion, Ascot Racecourse,
High Street, Ascot. At this meeting Councillors will be discussing
the next steps in their fight to save the provision of local health
services at Heatherwood. There will be time set aside for members
of the public to speak and make their views known to NHS
representatives.
Local residents are encouraged to attend this meeting and show
their support for retaining services at Heatherwood.
