Withdraw Datchet Common/Mill Place, Datchet, from its list of identified sites for additional traveller pitches within the Royal Borough
The Borough council are proposing a new travellers site should
be located in Datchet common, off Mill place. This site is on
metropolitan green belt and is subject to flood risk and is not a
suitable location.
This site would go against the national Planning Policy for
Travellers Site, 23rd March 2012, which states;
'Inappropriate development is harmful to the Green Belt and should
not be approved, except in very special circumstances. Traveller
sites (temporary or permanent) in the Green Belt are inappropriate
development.'
'Local planning authorities should ensure that traveller sites are
sustainable economically, socially and environmentally. Local
planning authorities should, therefore, ensure that their
policies:
- do not locate sites in areas at high risk of flooding, including
functional floodplains, given the particular vulnerability of
caravans'
