Immediately remove the promotional banners from the lampposts of the Borough, apologise and launch an investigation into how it happened, with recommendations on how to remedy the situation
Over the past few weeks, we have seen lamppost promotional
banners put up around Windsor and Maidenhead appearing to highlight
the achievements of the council.
Not only have these banners been put up using taxpayers money,
allegedly costing £22,000, but the work has also been done
without planning permission.
One of the banners states: '4,000 homes built on council
land’. This figure is an aspiration, and not a reflection of
homes actually built.
Another complaint is that residents were not consulted about the
location of these banners. For some residents, they are an eyesore,
while the positioning of some of the banners could pose a
distraction risk to drivers.
Concerns have also been raised about whether these banners are
recyclable.
We want the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to immediately
remove the promotional banners from the lampposts of the Borough,
apologise and launch an investigation into how it happened, with
recommendations on how to remedy the situation.
