Change the speed limit in Wraysbury Road, Wraysbury from 40 m
Recently most of our neighbours came out to help having heard
the catastrophic sounds of a pedestrian who was mowed down by a
vehicle travelling at significant speed. The driver failed to stop.
The pedestrian sustained extensive injuries that despite the
emergency services battling vigorously to save their life they died
at the scene.
This is a residential road with a large proportion of residents
having young children. It has no safe place to cross the road and
it is difficult to also access, exit and park your car
safely.
There are no zebra crossings, nor speed cameras or speed reducing
bumps. The speed limit at the border with Surrey County Council is
30 m.p.h. The significant increase in the volume of cars, many
having come off the M25, speed at over 50 m.p.h. Residents, in
particular children and elders, are at risk of their lives.
Another accident or fatality must not happen before action is
taken.
This is avoidable by RBWM reducing the speed to 30 m.p.h.,
installing speed cameras and a zebra crossing.
Please support this petition so that we can avoid a repeat and
protect our lives and those of our loved ones.
