TO BUILD A SAFE ZEBRA CROSSING ON CHOBHAM ROAD, SUNNINGDALE AND TO REVIEW THE PARKING LOCATION OF THE DISABLE BAYS AND THE ENTIRE LAYOUT
The new parking scheme on Chobham Road in Sunningdale resulted
in the loss of the refuge island. Road Safety Auditors recommended
a controlled pedestrian crossing be incorporated into the new
design. The Highways team at RBWM ignored them.
Residents have reported
1)they are struggling to cross safely
2)it is virtually impossible to reverse out of the bays
perpendicularly onto the busy Chobham Road. Several near misses
have been encountered.
3)the narrowing of the road has created pinch-points and blind
spots
We petition the Council to
1) build a safe pedestrian crossing without delay as every day,
residents are dicing with death trying to cross this road.
2) to review both disable bays as they are badly positioned and
drivers are at risk of getting hit by passing motorists.
3) to review the entire parking layout as the perpendicular bays
are dangerous to reverse out especially onto a busy through road.
It is against all Highway Code advice too
