Stop RBWM demolishing Maidenhead Community Centre and moving us to an inadequate temporary site!
RBWM promised "…to re-establish the Maidenhead Community
Centre in a new purpose-built building (or part of a building) so
it can perform all its current activities."
• clearly something the public supported (Cllr Hill)
• …huge amount of work undertaken at the centre, which
provided a vital resource… (Cllr D Wilson)
• …continuity should be seamless… (Cllr
Dudley)
• …essential that redevelopment did not squeeze out
community facilities and that they were future-proofed (Cllr
Dudley)
• …important role in addressing loneliness in the
elderly (Cllr D. Evans)
Now:
a) RBWM will shrink us from 14,000 sqft to 3,000 sqft.
Even ignoring our garden and parking, that gives us half the space
we have today. We won't be able to run all our activities,
including lifelines for vulnerable people.
b) RBWM will kick us out in October and leave us in limbo for
years.
When the bulldozers arrive, we're now told we will be squeezed into
the back of the Town Hall.
Save Maidenhead Community Centre!
