Since the restarting of the refuse service from bi-weekly to weekly Serco have failed to perform their obligation to collect refuse within the Borough and as a result a new contractor should sought or the service brought back in house.
Refuse collection is a statutory obligation of the Council and should be controlled by the Council rather than being outsourced.
It is time to bring this necessary service back within the council and managed and operated by the borough rather than an external contractor.
However, at the very least a new tender should be prepared for the selection of a new supplier
