Remove Haywards Mead car park, in Eton Wick, from the list of proposed rural car parks that charging would be introduced
There are only 15 parking spaces available at this location, we
feel it would not be cost effective to install the charging
equipment compared to revenue generated.
Furthermore, in a time when access to public open space is
nationally recognized as vital for resilient mental health, it
would be a shame to impact the use of the car park with the
introduction of charges, the negatives of commencing charging would
be felt throughout areas of the village already very heavily
congested with resident parking. During the week those that use the
spaces are mainly delivery drivers, council employees or contactors
maintaining the park & recreation space, post office van or
staff from the EWFSC. Why should these people be charged & who
would pay the bill?
Charges will just decant the parking on Football Match / training
days to the verges we are fighting to maintain. We have been lucky
to see the old Catholic Church used as a religious place of
worship, & we are sure their move to the village was very much
centered on the parking close to church. The car park is vital to
the young people of the village as access to the Scouts Hut, Youth
Club and a space to practice their driving skills amongst
others.
