To hold a local poll, under Section 116 of the Local Government Act 2003, to give residents a voice and a choice on any proposed changes to Council Tax or Discretionary services

We the undersigned petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to To hold a local poll, under Section 116 of the Local Government Act 2003, to give residents a voice and a choice on any proposed changes to Council Tax or Discretionary services.

The reason for the petition: The Cabinet's proposal to lobby central government for greater flexibility to increase the council tax was agreed by council on 14th October 2020.
What the Cabinets proposal means to you: If the Government increases the current 2% cap, then you may have no choice in the decision and see your council tax rise. If the Government does not increase the 2% cap then you may see further cuts in your discretionary services of circa £9m+ up to the financial year 2025 if no other means can be identified to fill the gap in funding, as outlined by the Cabinet in the Medium Term Financial Strategy.
We believe you should be guaranteed a voice and a choice in any decision to change council tax or discretionary services.
If you agree, please sign this petition, ask the Council to give you that choice."
