Abandon their plans or thoughts of introducing a Bus Gate on Shoppenhangers Road
We the undersigned are alarmed, and urge RBWM to abandon their
proposals to introduce a Bus Gate at Shoppenhangers Road.
We are unclear what the alleged safety issues are that justifies
such costly, indulgent and disruptive proposal, and what the
supposed pedestrian aspect benefits are. Apart from pupils traffic
from Desborough College of short durations, the footfall here is
negligible.
Shoppenhangers Road is a major arterial route that feeds M4 / A404
traffic into Town. It would be madness to replace it with a
narrower twisted and dangerous route, notwithstanding the
Borough’s plan for further housing development there.
The proposal will have an adverse impact on the Environment due to
increased vehicular travel distances to Town. It further introduces
even greater safety risks on Harvest Hill Road and Manor Lane to
motorists, cyclists, runners and walkers who use them for access to
Braywick Park, particularly at the twisted and narrow sections of
these roads that have no side pavements
