Carry out an urgent review of road safety to inform improvements for children walking and cycling to Trevelyan Middle School; and install additional crossings on St Leonard’s Road and Bolton Road

We the undersigned petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to carry out an urgent review of road safety to inform improvements for children walking and cycling to Trevelyan Middle School; and install additional crossings on St Leonard’s Road and Bolton Road.

The recent accident involving a child cyclist on St Leonard’s Road underlined the concerns of local parents who want their children to be able to walk and cycle to and from school safely. The St Leonard’s Road entrance to Trevelyan Middle School is the main entrance and exit point for children at the start and end of the school day. This is a busy through route with a 30mph speed limit. There are no light-controlled crossings on St Leonard’s Road and no crossing at all on Bolton Road. Middle School is a stage where children wish to become more independent and walking or cycling to school has many benefits for their health and wellbeing, and for reductions in traffic and air pollution, but only if they can travel safely.
