Stop the Unsafe Parking Scheme on Quarry Wood Road

We the undersigned petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to Reverse the decision on the proposed parking scheme on Quarry Wood Road - consult all affected parties and implement a scheme that is safe and works for all.

The scheme as proposed is likely to result in a significant risk to the children who travel to row at Longridge and Marlow with pedestrians and cyclists exposed to speeding cars, a concern flagged by RBWM's team.

Parking controls in Marlow have forced a large number of vehicles out of the town centre, put huge pressure on private parking and resulted in vehicles needing to park down Quarry Wood Road, Marlow Rowing Club members are amongst this number.

Consultation has been scant and appears to have touched mainly on the residents who have an obvious need for some form of control; other interest parties have not been consulted. Marlow Rowing Club has contacted the council on a number of occasions and been rebuffed.

Marlow Rowing Club has a huge social impact, the largest junior squad in the region, the UK’s largest Para and adaptive squads and a huge adult learn to row programme that benefits Bisham, Marlow and its environs. An ill considered parking scheme, such as the one proposed will have major deleterious impact on community participation in exercise, impacting over 600 club members.

The scheme as proposed, will simply displace parked cars onto the Marlow Road and other local roads creating a larger problem than already exists. The scheme proposed makes no accommodation for this displacement. Again, this risk has been flagged by the RBWM team with no accommodations in place.

Marlow Rowing Club and its members believes a solution can be found to accommodate the needs of the residents and the Club and the public generally without having to impose double yellow lines.
