Solve the serious congestion in Sunninghill High Street which causes danger to children attending St Michaels school.
We the undersigned petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to find a solution to the traffic problems on Sunninghill High Street which causes serious danger to children and other pedestrians.
The current traffic situation on the B3020 at Sunninghill High Street cannot continue.
Due to on street parking and a complete lack of traffic management, there is absolute gridlock several times a day. People use the junction of the High Street and School Road as an unofficial passing place - immediately outside a primary school.
Parking on the High Street during peak times reduces the road to a single lane causing serious congestion. This in turn causes drivers to speed along the High Street when seeing that the lane appears clear before being blocked again by oncoming traffic. The parked vehicles and waiting traffic obstruct vision and access to the pedestrian crossing outside The Novello Theatre leading to St Michaels school. This has resulted in numerous near misses where children have narrowly avoided being run over.
Protect pedestrians, prevent pollution and end traffic congestion
