Councillor Lenton is a hard working conscientious man who has had a very successful period of office as Deputy Mayor being able to combine his ceremonial duties with an undiminished service to his constituents. He is an honest man of strong principles who has stood up for his ward and his parish and was prepared to court unpopularity in doing so. These are exactly the qualities required of the high office of Mayor.
