Support local residents by seeking legal advice about what action can be taken against Thames Water and/or the Environment Agency, and following advice to pursue legal action as appropriate

We the undersigned petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to support local residents by seeking legal advice about what action can be taken against Thames Water and/or the Environment Agency, and following advice to pursue legal action as appropriate.

During the recent winter floods, Thames Water with the agreement of the Environment Agency allowed sewage to be discharged into the ditches surrounding Eton Wick, but failed to advise RBWM, the Town Council, or local residents. The pollution and smell was appalling. Thames Water and the Environment Agency promised to keep all agencies and local residents advised of further likely discharges in the future. They were also going to consider if in an emergency situation the sewage could be discharged into the Jubilee River rather than the ditches on Dorney Common but this has now been rejected. However, very recently sewage was again discharged into the ditches resulting in further pollution, with a dreadful smell around the village and Dorney Common. There is also a large flooded area on the Common and Little Common which cannot be explained adequately, and it would appear that neither Thames Water nor the Environment Agency in its’ role as a Regulator is supporting local residents to resolve a problem that keeps re-occurring.
