We are highly concerned about the negative impact that the opening of yet another Betting Shop in Dedworth will have on the area and the local population.
It is well documented that Betting Shops can expose vulnerable people into situations where they can become addicted to gambling. This often results in depression, despair, serious debt and can lead some into a life of crime.
A community like Dedworth needs a range of shops to sustain the health and wellbeing of its population. The addition of another Betting Shop (there are already two in Dedworth plus four in Central Windsor) will have a hugely negative impact on the community. The proposed location is a prime retail unit, adjacent to local schools, making it much better suited to a use which would be more beneficial to the community.
For these reasons we believe the proposed development of a third Dedworth Betting Office should be stopped immediately.
