Create a safe route to school for children that live within a mile of Holyport College

We the undersigned petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to create a safe route to school for children that live within a mile of Holyport College

Holyport, Sturt Green and Touchen End residents that are pupils at Holyport College are currently taken to school by bus or car, even those that live within a mile of the school. This is because the school is located on the very busy A330 Ascot Road and there is no footpath on the school side of the road, which means that children need to cross the road twice in order to get to the school. Given the speed and volume of the traffic this is highly risky. For those that want to cycle, the traffic is fast and continuous with many lorries. The alternative route via Moneyrow Green also has a section along Forest Green Road with no footpath which makes it unusable, and for cyclists entails crossing against the traffic on a busy junction onto the Ascot Road, and then turn against the traffic again into the school entrance. We want to reduce the volume of school traffic on the local roads, and get children travelling independently to school in safety.
