This petition has been started by Councillor Simon Dudley, Lead Member for Adult and Community Services because of the decision by the NHS to close Charles Ward for Older People at St Marks and move the inpatient service to Prospect Park in Reading.
The council invites you to sign this petition to require the PCT and Berkshire Healthcare trust to reverse the decision and implement option 2 which formed part of the consultation by Berkshire Health care trust.
Option 2: All inpatient services to move to Prospect Park Hospital except for those for older people, which would be located in Charles Ward, St Mark's Hospital, Maidenhead. The ward at St Mark's Hospital would be redecorated and new furnishings provided (the building itself cannot be altered to provide single room accommodation)
