Create a safe crossing across the B4447 Cannondown Road in Cookham
From the houses of Southwood Gardens and Maidenhead Road, in
order to walk to the schools, shops, station and park of Cookham we
have to get across Cannondown Road where it meets Maidenhead
Road.
In order to reach Furze Platt School, which is the designated
Secondary School for the children of Cookham, it is necessary for
this road to be crossed for those children on foot.
This section of road is currently a 40mph speed limit, but has only
just been slowed from a 50 coming from Maidenhead and so cars are
often travelling at some speed! I propose that this section of the
road is slowed to 30mph (as it has been the other side of the
railway bridge on Maidenhead Road) and that a crossing is put in
place to provide us with a safe place to cross. 30mph would also be
a safer speed at which to approach the railway bridge where cars
going towards Cookham have to give way to cars in the other
direction with poor visibility around a bend in the road. Slowing
the cars down would also therefore make this safer.
