Put a zebra crossing on Horton Road / Link Road, Datchet
Datchet St Mary’s primary school is on the same side side
of Horton Road as the recreation ground. This skews the
distribution of school children to the opposite side of Horton Road
to the school.
Therefore many children cross Horton Road at its intersection with
Link Road on the way to school, on the way home from school, and at
the weekends to go to/ from the park.
There are currently no safe crossing points (zebra or pelican) from
the recreation ground to the houses on the opposite side.
On 29th Jan 2018, a 6 year old boy was knocked down at this
intersection on his way home from school.
The shear number of children making the crossing here daily meant
it was just a matter of time before someone was knocked down. As it
stands, it’s just a matter of time before someone is
killed.
The signaturies here call for the council to discuss putting a safe
crossing on Horton Road at the intersection with Link Road.
The signatories also request a review of whether further zebra
crossings would be appropriate at other locations within the
village where there is a natural flow of children going to / from
school.
